“Understanding and addressing the effects of the past has proven the most effective way of enabling long-lasting change”

My story

Hello and welcome – My name is Rich and I’m a chartered psychologist with 15 years’ experience of helping people overcome their mental health problems. I have practised psychotherapy in a range of settings, mainly within the NHS, and have worked successfully with people whose difficulties range from general unhappiness through to complex trauma, and with people who have been diagnosed with the full spectrum of psychiatric conditions, from depression, anxiety and phobias through to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), PTSD, bipolar affective disorder, personality disorders, dissociative identity disorder, schizoaffective disorder and schizophrenia.

I have undergone training in a broad range of psychological therapies, including: Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive-Analytic therapy (CAT) and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This breadth enables me to really tailor my approach to your individual needs and preferences, and on a short- or long-term basis.

The therapies I particularly value are those which acknowledge the relationship between difficult life experiences and mental health problems. Understanding and addressing the effects of the past has proven to be the most effective way of enabling long-lasting change for the people I have helped.

Process & costs

The process would involve us speaking via phone or video call for a free 15-minute consultation to explore your difficulties and for us to decide whether we both feel we can work together to resolve them. Sessions are available either in person at my clinic in Lytham St Annes or online via video call (Skype, Zoom, etc.). Each session lasts 50 minutes.

As I am currently employed as the full-time clinical psychologist of a local NHS Community Mental Health Team, I’m only able to offer evening appointments.

Please contact me for further details regarding availability and fees. Online sessions cost less, and I do offer one slot at a concessionary rate. Please notify me ASAP if you have insurance, so I can ensure I am registered with your provider.
